Designed by CWC, the Pig Tail JR soft lure is a versatile grub aimed at freshwater predator fishing. It adopts the iconic Pig profile, renowned for triggering strikes from pike, zander and other predators. Its soft yet durable rubber delivers a natural swim, accompanied by pronounced vibrations that remain effective both for quick-search fishing and for insistence on marked spots.
An excellent complement to the Pig Shad, the Pig Tail JR offers fish a different signal, with a more undulating swim and a distinct vibratory signature. Alternating between shad and grub is ideal to fool wary predators in pressured areas or during high fishing pressure periods.
Thanks to its balanced design, this CWC predator grub casts easily, stays stable at various retrieval speeds and continues to work even during pauses. It is accessible for beginner anglers and technical enough to satisfy pike and zander specialists.
The Pig Tail JR stands out for its ability to fish effectively where other lures reach their limits. Its corkscrew/spiral tail starts working immediately, making it an excellent choice for slow fish or cold water. On slow retrieves, the Pig Tail JR soft lure emits a wide, fluid vibration that remains very natural.
To get the best from this soft lure for pike and zander, match the weight of the jig head to depth and current conditions. A light head favors a slow, gliding swim, while a heavier head helps reach the strike zone quickly or counter strong flow.
Since I started using the Pig Tail JR, it perfectly complements my sessions with Pig Shads. When fish stop responding to shads, this grub often makes the difference in a few casts.
Very easy lures to rig and use. Even with relatively light gear, I can fish a long time without fatigue and keep catching pike regularly.
Question 1: Is this Pig Tail JR soft lure reserved for pike?
Answer: No — although particularly effective on pike, this CWC predator grub also takes zander, large perch and other opportunistic predators depending on the fished waters.
Question 2: Is a stinger rig absolutely necessary with this lure?
Answer: Using a CWC Stinger rig is highly recommended when targeting large predators or when bites are timid. However, for smaller fish or quick fishing, a simple rig on a standard weighted jig head can be sufficient and remains very effective.
