The NASH Ronnie Claw Rig is a pre-tied leader specifically developed for modern carp fishing with floating baits. Inspired by the famous Ronnie rig, it uses a wide-gap Claw-style hook and a very free articulation to encourage clean, secure hook-ups even with wary, heavily pressured fish.
Thanks to its careful design, this carp pop-up rig offers an aggressive hook presentation while remaining extremely discreet on the lakebed. Every component has been selected to optimize hook angle, reduce tangle risk on the cast, and withstand prolonged fights with large fish.
The main strength of the Ronnie Claw Rig lies in its rotating action. As soon as a carp takes the bait, the hook quickly turns to catch on the lip edge, greatly reducing dropped fish. The combination of a wide gap, a curved shank and a free articulation ensures an excellent conversion rate from bites to hook-ups.
This pre-tied Ronnie rig allows carp anglers to benefit from a highly technical carp leader without having to master every knot or sleeve position. It offers a versatile solution for fishing with floating baits across many scenarios, from quick sessions to long sessions on heavily fished waters.
To get the most from this carp pop-up rig, attach it to a suitable mainline via a solid clip or loop, then pair it with a weight matched to the casting distance. Keep the line slightly taut to favour self-hooking when the carp moves after taking the bait.
Mount a balanced floating bait on the bait screw so the rig sits just above the bottom with the hook point facing down. A small amount of putty near the swivel can be used to fine-tune buoyancy. Before each cast, check the hook point and the alignment of the kicker and anti-tangle sleeve to maintain peak efficiency.
Question 1 : Is this rig suitable for a beginner angler?
Answer: Yes — the Ronnie Claw Rig is supplied pre-tied with coherent components, allowing a beginner to fish straight away. Simply attach it to the mainline, add an appropriate weight and a floating bait to fish with confidence.
