Designed by NASH, the carp mainline braid Baseline leverages the latest advances in braid manufacturing from the lure-fishing market to offer carp anglers a modern, high-performance mainline that is easy to handle. It has been engineered to combine manageability, stealth and robustness, covering both technical short-range fishing and very long-distance casting.
This 8-strand sinking braid is built on an eight-plus-one strand construction with a higher-density core, surrounded by premium Dyneema braided fibres. The result is a low-diameter braid with a perfectly round profile that casts far, spools smoothly onto the reel and provides direct contact with the rig. Once in the water the line quickly breaks the surface film, sinks and lays against the bottom contours, minimizing visibility to wary carp.
Thanks to this architecture and the quality of materials, the NASH Baseline braid delivers excellent abrasion resistance, near-zero stretch and immediate bite feedback whether you fish from the bank or from a boat. It therefore provides a reliable foundation for most modern carp fishing approaches.
One of the main strengths of this sinking carp braid is its ability to become virtually invisible underwater. By lying naturally on the bottom it conforms to the terrain and follows the substrate contours, reducing the chance of carp making direct contact with the line. This stealth is decisive on heavily fished waters where fish often associate tight lines with danger.
The braid's low elasticity delivers exceptional sensitivity. The slightest movement of the weight, contact with an obstacle or a fish testing the bait is transmitted to the rod tip. This responsiveness not only helps detect the subtlest bites but also enables precise hooksets even at long range. For clip fishing or technical approaches such as marking fixed distances, the 8-strand braid offers highly repeatable casts.
Its regular Dyneema construction also provides a good balance between thinness and strength. It withstands the stresses posed by submerged snags, abrasive margins and certain vegetation while remaining flexible enough to sit correctly behind the rods. For boat anglers, high-visibility versions in the range make line reading, negotiating other rigs and avoiding tangles easier.
Finally, the Baseline carp mainline braid is designed for daily use: clean spooling, good turn-over on casts and predictable behaviour in contact with water. It is a versatile solution for carp anglers seeking high performance without compromising reliability.
To get the best from NASH Baseline, choose the breaking strain according to the type of water, presence of obstacles and intended fishing distances. Opt for higher strengths in snaggy environments and finer diameters when distance and stealth are paramount.
When filling the reel, apply slight tension to the braid to achieve compact, even spooling. Filling the spool to an appropriate level maximizes casting performance while avoiding unwanted loops. Before each session, check the condition of the first metres of line and cut away any worn sections.
On high-visibility versions with reflective fibres, reflectivity performance may gradually decrease after many hours of fishing and exposure to the elements. It is possible to reverse the spool to use a less-exposed section and regain optimal visibility. Whatever model you choose, using a suitable leader and, where regulations require, a tapered mainline or leader is recommended to secure the fish and the rig.
Question 1 : Is this braid suitable for all types of carp waters?
Answer: Yes, the NASH Baseline has been developed as a versatile carp mainline braid. Its sinking design, high sensitivity and range of breaking strains make it suitable for use in ponds, gravel pits, canals and large lakes, provided the diameter and rigs are adapted to the fishing context and local regulations.
