Designed by Megabass for freshwater predatory fishing, the Megabass IxI Shad Type-3 is a diving shad lure engineered to efficiently explore deep water layers. Thanks to its large lip, it easily reaches depths beyond two meters and stays in the fish-holding zone where many lures struggle to operate.
Its LBO II mass transfer system optimizes every cast: the internal weight shifts to the rear during the cast to deliver excellent distance and a stable trajectory, then returns to the swimming position as soon as retrieval begins. The result is a deep crankbait that's easy to cast far from boat or shore while entering action quickly.
The main asset of the Megabass IxI Shad Type-3 is its ability to quickly reach the ideal swimming depth and maintain it over long distances. This lets the lure stay close to the bottom, breaklines and submerged structures — preferred holding areas of wary predators.
Its shad profile produces a tight, steady swim, offering an excellent balance between attraction and subtlety. Combined with the LBO II system, this design lets you cover large areas quickly: you prospect farther, faster and more precisely, increasing your chances of encountering active fish.
The IxI Shad Type-3 excels at fast prospecting. Make long fan casts and retrieve it with steady cranking to methodically sweep each area. Don’t hesitate to vary retrieval speed or add brief pauses to change cadence and trigger strikes from following fish.
It performs best when running near the bottom: adjust depth by modifying retrieval speed and rod angle. When you feel the lure hit an obstacle, raise the rod tip slightly and slow down to let it bounce and resume — often the trigger for a strike. A lure rod with a good power reserve, paired with a casting or spinning reel and a suitably sized line, will provide comfort and control during repeated casts with this deep-diving lure.
Question 1 : What predatory species is this lure best suited for?
Answer: This diving shad lure is ideal for most freshwater predatory fish that hold deep, such as pike, zander, large perch or black bass, depending on the waters frequented.
