The Devaux HL07R Emergent Flies are designed to faithfully imitate the emergence stage of mayflies, a key moment when fish feed intensely. Their precise tying ensures a natural drift and excellent visibility while maintaining optimal stealth on the water.
Developed by a recognized specialist, the HL07R Emergent Flies offer a remarkable level of realism. The combination of a tapered body and balanced collar positions the fly at the correct height in the film, provoking strikes even from wary fish. The aerodynamic tying facilitates long, precise presentations, while the lightweight fibers maximize sensitivity and discretion. This model stands out for its ability to fish effectively throughout the entire emergence window, from the start of the hatch to the peak activity, providing a versatile solution for technical rivers.
To get the most from the Devaux HL07R, favor fine, tapered leaders to achieve a drag-free drift. Work upstream and three-quarter upstream drifts, placing the fly upstream of lies held by active fish. Watch the surface closely: a subtle pull or a small ripple often signals a take. Do not hesitate to lightly grease the leader upstream of the fly to keep the presentation at the water’s surface, and de-grease the tip to reduce reflections. During heavy hatches, alternate between long drifts and micro-mending to extend the active fishing zone. After several fish or if the fly becomes waterlogged, restore buoyancy with a touch of hydrophobic powder and gently dry it.
"On my limestone rivers, the HL07R proved deadly from late spring. The fly sits perfectly in the film and holds several fish without degrading. Even in full sun, its silhouette remains credible and refusals decrease noticeably. It has become my number one choice during delicate mayfly hatches."
Is the fly suitable for fast water?
Yes, its balance provides good holding in strong seams while maintaining a subtle presentation in runs and slicks.
Should it be used only during hatches?
It is optimal during hatches but remains effective when prospecting where fish take at the surface film.
How to extend its durability?
After each session, rinse, dry and store it away from humidity; revive flotation with a dry treatment before use.
